Winter holidays in South Tyrol
Winter holidays in white powder snow

In the winter months, the Apple Plateau of Natz/Schabs welcomes you under a white blanket of fine powder snow. The peaks of the nearby Dolomites are snow-covered, and a mystic atmosphere envelops your holiday region in South Tyrol. The variety of winter leisure activities leaves no room for boredom during your ski holiday in the Eisacktal. Join a guided snowshoe hike on Mount Plose or a ski tour in the Dolomites. These excursions offer marvellous and unique winter experiences in the snowy mountains. Plenty of action and fun awaits you on South Tyrol’s longest toboggan run. The “Rudi Run” awaits you in the ski area Plose-Brixen and invites you to race 15 kilometres down into the valley. If you feel the need for a little city break, you will find many interesting sights in the medieval old town, such as the Cathedral of Brixen and the Cathedral Cloister. Worth seeing are also the historic city districts, such Stufels or the villa district Burgfrieden in an attractive hillside location. All the city of Brixen is a highlight for tourists interested in architecture in South Tyrol.

Skiing in sSouth Tyrol
Holidays in the snow
Skiing in a winter wonderland

During your ski holiday at the Gasthof Anich, you may choose between two diverse ski areas, both easily accessible from the Gasthof Anich. The ski areas Brixen-Plose and Gitschberg/Jochtal each offer more than 40 kilometres of slopes of all difficulty levels for beginners and experts. You may book in your children in one of the ski schools and the next generation will learn how to safely ski down into the valley. By the way, experienced ski instructors will help not only children to learn how to ski! Of course, adults can book a course as well. In clear weather, you may enjoy a magnificent panoramic view on the local mountain of Brixen, the Plose, with its 2,500 m summit, the longest downhill slope in South Tyrol, the nine-kilometre Trametsch slope, and truly wonderful landscapes. The view extends from the rugged Dolomite peaks in the south to the main alpine ridge in the north. Of course, you may also explore other ski areas: The two afore-mentioned ski areas, but also the Rodenecker and Lüsner Alm as well as in villages like Villnöss, snowboarding, freestyling, tobogganing and even night tobogganing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are excellent alternatives to add great variety to your ski vacation.

Markets

Christmas Markets in South Tyrol

If you spend your skiing holiday in the Eisacktal, you also have the opportunity to visit the many romantic Christmas markets in South Tyrol. The Brixen Christmas market on the Cathedral Square, which is only 12 kilometres away, counts among the most beautiful market in South Tyrol: Here, at the lovingly decorated booth, you will find traditional Eisacktal specialties alongside traditional arts and crafts and Christmas decorations. The entertainment programme with concerts, exhibitions, carriage rides and other great activities makes a visit to the Brixen Christmas Market an unforgettable experience. Also noteworthy are the markets in Bruneck (31 km) and Sterzing (30 km). A bit further away from the Gasthof Anich, but still within easy reach is the traditional Christmas market in Bozen, the largest Christmas market in Italy (51 km).
