Autumn holidays in South Tyrol
Autumn holidays on the
Apple Plateau near Brixen
Autumn adds a variety of colours to the leaves on the trees and awaits you on the Apple Plateau with an incomparable blaze of colour. Golden yellow, fiery red, and soft brown tones abound in the deciduous and mixed forests surrounding the Eisacktal. The dark green of the firs and spruces creates fascinating contrasts in your holiday region. During your autumn vacation in South Tyrol, temperatures are still mild, inviting you to enjoy hikes and bike rides in the Dolomites, the Eisacktal, and the holiday region Gitschberg/Jochtal. The grape harvest has begun, and the branches of the fruit trees are bending under the weight of ripe fruit. The traditional Apple Festival, the second major event of the year, is just around the corner in Natz/Schabs.

A festive autumn highlight:
The Apple Festival in Natz/Schabs
The apple harvest is the focus of the festive activities on the Apple Plateau in October. During the “Sunnseitn Apple Week”, chefs from the local mountain inns and restaurants create delicious dishes from fresh apples. Slide shows on the region’s fruit-growing traditions awaits you, and the reigning Apple Queen accompanies groups on hikes in the mountains. The festivities always culminate on the second Sunday in October with the election of a new Apple Queen.
Traditions
Törggelen in Natz/Schabs:
Living traditions in South Tyrol
Törggelen is an ancient tradition in South Tyrol, celebrated annually in the region’s inns and wine taverns. After the bountiful harvest, South Tyrolean culinary delights beckon. During Törggelen, you’ll be served the current season’s young wine, accompanied by hearty alpine specialties, from rich meat platters to hearty “Schlutzkrapfen” (spinach-filled ravioli). For groups, we at Gasthof Anich are happy to organize a traditional Törggelen evening with hearty South Tyrolean specialties. During your autumn hikes, try a glass of fresh, naturally cloudy apple juice at the region’s alpine inns and enjoy the magic of nature’s diverse colours.
